APHA recognizes top Youth World Show competitors
FORT WORTH, TEXAS—The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) named
its top Youth World Champions June 26, 2008, at the John Justin Arena
of the Will Rogers Complex in Fort Worth, Texas. The World Show is
APHA's showcase event, during which Youth from across the country
gather for a week of world-class competition dedicated specifically
to them. After the conclusion of qualifying events, high point and
all-around titles were presented to outstanding competitors.
Nine titles were awarded:
Ashley Wildes of Lakeside, California, earned the High-Point English
Youth award by accumulating the most points overall in English events.
She rode Totally By Choice, an 11-year-old gelding owned by Tim and
Karen Wildes. Her High-Point English Youth awards included an English

Additionally, Ashley and Totally By Choice earned the Elegant April
Memorial Award. The Elegant April Memorial Award is a three-tiered
award with the potential of winning a Savings Bond up to $1,000,
depending on the classes won, in memory of the horse owned by
Jennifer and Margie Chan of Elegant Paint Horses in Wilton,
California. This award is presented to the 14-18 Youth and horse team
who demonstrated excellence in English events at the World Show.
Ashley received a $500 Savings Bond and a beautiful memorial trophy
for World Champion wins in Youth Working Hunter 14-18 and Youth
Hunter Hack 14-18.
The 2008 High-Point Western Youth is Miss Stevie Jay Rubion of
Paradise, Texas. She rode Little Joe Black to a World Championship in
Youth Heeling, and three other Top 5 finishes in Youth Goat Tying,
Youth Heading, and Youth Steer Stopping, and accumulated the most
points in Western performance events.
Little Joe Black is a 9-year-old gelding owned by Steve & Sondra
Roubion of Paradise, Texas. APHA presented Stevie Jay a Western

The Reserve High-Point Walk-Trot Youth award is given to the young
rider who accumulated the second-highest amount of points in our Walk-Trot classes. Nine-year-old Brennan Coulson of Granite Bay,
California, finished in the Top 5 of the Walk-Trot classes three
times, with a championship title in Walk-Trot Trail riding Toys
Express, a 12-year-old mare owned by Tamara Coulson. APHA presented

The 2008 High-Point Walk-Trot Youth is 9-year-old Grace Brown of
Newberg, Oregon. This promising young competitor earned 81 points in
Walk-Trot events riding Snuffys Miss Kitty. Snuffys Miss Kitty is a
15-year-old mare that came into Grace’s life just last fall. This is
Grace’s third year to compete at the APHA World Show, and her best
finish in her young showing career. Awards presented included a

Ashley Corona clenched the Reserve All-Around Youth 13 & Under award;
presented to the horse and rider team that earns the second-highest
point total in a minimum of three categories at the World Show. The
thirteen-year-old Corona, California, youth rode Too Shiny Forya, a
10-year-old gelding owned by Kristy Corona. The pair earned top
placings in 7 classes, including a Reserve World Championship in
Youth Hunter Hack 13 & Under and a World Title in Youth Western
Riding 13 & Under. APHA recognized her accomplishments with a pair of

APHA’s 2008 World Show All-Around Youth 13 & Under winner is Rylee
Morgan of American Fork, Utah. Rylee, 13, rode Dun Me Light to a
cumulative total of 124 points earned in 8 classes. Dun Me Light is a
14-year-old gelding owned by Paige & Rylee Morgan. The horse and
rider pair won a World Championship in 13 & Under Hunt Seat
Equitation, 3 Reserve World Championships and 4 other Top 10
placings. In addition to the multitude of ribbons and buckles Rylee
accumulated throughout the week, APHA presented a Western trophy

The 2008 Reserve All-Around Youth 14–18 rider is Taylor Lynn Prince.
This standout young rider piloted Mystical Machine, a 7-year-old mare
owned by Susan & Taylor Lynn Prince of Las Vegas, Nevada, to
accumulate 82 points in 5 classes at the Youth World Show. Her
accomplishments include Top 5 placings in Youth Western Horsemanship,
Youth Showmanship, and Youth Western Pleasure, in addition to World
Championship titles in Youth Trail and Youth Western Riding. APHA

Chelsea Bain captured the All Around Youth 14-18 award, which is
presented to the youth who accumulates the most points of everyone in
their age bracket riding one horse. The Scottsdale, Arizona, youth
rode Sensational Blonde, owned by Buddy & Renee Jobe, and accumulated
116 points; placing in the Top 10 seven times. Chelsea and the 6-year-
old Sensational Blonde rode to the Reserve World Championship in
Youth Western Horsemanship, and earned World Championships in 3
classes: Youth Hunt Seat Equitation, Youth Showmanship and Youth
Western Pleasure. Awards presented included a Western trophy saddle,
